Concept Submission – “Sandcastles on the Beach”

The concept is an extension of Sandcastles Childcare & Learning Center, which is located at 313 East Street in Hingham, MA.  Initially, the focus would be on providing Summer Programs for school-age children, ages 5-8.  Based on demand, the facility could eventually be used during the school year for Pre-K Enrichment Programs with a focus on marine science.

Sandcastles provides a high-quality Summer Program at the Hingham location.   Each Summer we bring in performers, petting zoos, ice cream trucks, etc. and we host many events for our Sandcastles Community, including movie nights under-the-stars and barbeques.    A calendar of our 2023 Summer Program has been attached for your reference.

We would continue to offer our Summer Program in Hingham, but also offer our soon-to-be graduates (ages 5 t0 6) to attend in Hull instead. The Hull program would offer activities more appropriate for older children (e.g. surfing and swimming lessons).  We would welcome the opportunity to partner with those already providing lessons and / or equipment, like surfboards.    The Summer Program in Hull would also provide new employment opportunities.

In addition to offering partnership and expansion opportunities to current providers, we would offer a discount to Hull parents (including grandparents) who wish to enroll children.  Priority enrollment will be given to Hull residents and Sandcastles Childcare graduates.

The ideal location would be on or close to Parcel 27-035 (existing map), so that children could easily access the beach and the bathhouse.  It would be a bonus if there was access to green space. Parking needs are pretty minimal - an estimated 8-10 daily spots for staff.  A drop-off zone would also be needed.

More research would need to be done to determine the building size, but the anticipated space would be 2500-4000 sq ft. The project would be privately funded and a zoning change is not anticipated.

More information regarding Sandcastles in Hingham can be found on our website:   www.sandcastleschildcarepreschool.com.  Also, please find a copy of our 2023 Summer Program Calendar attached.

Thank you very much for your consideration!
